Twenty-three. That is the number of days I’m in Amsterdam now. In this post, you will find a small throwback of what has happened so far.

It all began on March 2, the move from West Flanders to the capital of the Netherlands. Luckily, it isn’t so far away from home so my parents have dropped me off including all the necessary stuff. Even my bike joined the trip in the back of the car in 1 piece.

My room is very comfortable and located in the centre of Amsterdam, perfect!

After 2 days of chilling in Amsterdam, I realised that I wasn’t here just to relax, I am here for an internship. On Monday, March 4, my internship began at Cargill in Schiphol. This internship is really interesting because I get the chance to become a data analysist expert. My project focusses on the barge flows in Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands. Specifically, I need to map all the demurrage costs on every flow with more details about volumes, type of products, type of barges,…

I am learning a lot at Cargill and I also get to know new people every day and that is something very important for my own professional network.

In the first 3 weeks here in Amsterdam, working wasn’t of course the only thing I did. In the weekends, I am able to meet up with some friends from class who are also doing their internship here. We already did some fun things together such as cooking, watching ‘de Mol’, going to some clubs, going out for dinner or just wandering around in Amsterdam.

Last week, we also had a visit from Silke and Maxim from class, it was nice to see each other again.

With Silke, we visited the Albert Cuyp-market and went shopping. The next day, we did a small pub crawl with Maxim while acting like a tourist in Amsterdam city. That Sunday was also the first time the weather was good here. In the past 2 weeks, we only saw storm and rain, which was very sad.

Next week, some good friends are coming over so I’m really looking forward to that.

That was it for now, thank you for reading my throwback, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did while making this!!

Stay tuned for more…
